People Map
People Map is operated by JK BUTTERFLY LLC. Website: peoplemapapp.com. Privacy and support contact: contact@peoplemapapp.com.
Last updated: November 2, 2026.
This policy covers People Map on iOS and Android and this website. People Map lets adults see nearby people without public names or profiles. “Anonymous” does not mean that location data cannot identify someone.
When sharing is authorized, the backend receives eligible precise coordinates and age. Shared map files supplied to app users contain those coordinates, age and a map identifier. Dots may be thinned or delayed, but their coordinates are not deliberately blurred or anonymized. Location patterns can reveal a home, workplace or identity.
With the required permissions, location processing can continue in the background to support Private Areas and map presence, subject to operating-system restrictions. It is not guaranteed continuous tracking.
Private Areas are checked on the device. When the detected position is inside one, the app prevents new visible-coordinate publication there and requests hiding through its publication cycle. A previously shared dot may remain until the service and other devices refresh. Private Areas do not stop all device or map-provider location processing.
When activity heartbeats stop, server maintenance is configured to hide presence after more than six minutes of inactivity. Network, maintenance and viewer refresh delays can extend visibility. Revoking location access stops new authorized location updates; it does not erase previously shared data.
Blocking filters dots from the two accounts’ map views. It is a visual control, not a guarantee that the underlying shared map data is inaccessible. Block-list labels are not published in shared map files. Settings → Report opens an email draft; existing app versions may prefill the previous support address. Use contact@peoplemapapp.com for current support. This is not an automated reporting or emergency service.
Apple StoreKit processes iOS subscriptions; Google Play Billing processes Android subscriptions. The app checks store-provided purchase information on the device and uses subscription status to grant access. There is no People Map subscription-verification backend. People Map does not receive your full payment card details.
Use Restore Purchases or Manage Subscription in the app with the purchasing store account. Deleting the app or your People Map account does not cancel a subscription or delete the store’s transaction records. See subscription help.
These services can process operational information such as IP addresses, request times and diagnostic logs. Their own practices also apply. The current People Map app and website do not include advertising or cross-app tracking tools.
Hiding a dot is not deletion. When the backend successfully hides your presence, it clears precise latitude and longitude from your live location record while preserving the account and necessary activity and publication metadata. The existing inactivity maintenance applies the same live-coordinate cleanup when it hides stale presence; maintenance and refresh delays still apply.
This does not erase earlier published positions from shared-map snapshots, change records, or device and network caches. Clearing the live location record does not immediately remove copies already supplied to other devices.
Hiding and inactivity cleanup preserve the anonymous account and necessary presence/activity metadata. V1 has no automatic age-based retirement of historical shared-map snapshot files; these are separate from the live location record. The six-minute inactivity threshold is not an account, snapshot or backup deletion period.
To request deletion while you still have access to your account, open Settings → Delete Account & Data and confirm. The V1 server process authenticates that session, freezes presence, rebuilds current shared-map data, attempts to scrub the account’s entries from stored snapshot files, and deletes the Auth account and associated database records. After server confirmation, the app signs out and clears People Map’s local settings and shared-map cache. A failed or uncertain cleanup must not be treated as verified deletion of every copy.
This cannot instantly erase copies already downloaded by others. Operating-system or map caches, provider logs and backups, support correspondence and store transaction records are separate and are not all erased by the in-app deletion process. Android enables operating-system backup; uninstalling is not a guarantee that every device or backup copy is erased. Support emails remain separate records in Zoho Mail; deleting an anonymous app account does not automatically delete that correspondence. No unverified fixed retention period or physical-erasure guarantee is promised here. Retention and deletion of provider logs and backups depend on the applicable service and configuration, not the six-minute inactivity rule.
An external account-deletion request route is not available yet. The general support email is not a verified account-deletion process. See account-deletion help.
Account authentication and backend access controls restrict private account operations. Published location data is intentionally distributed to app users and should not be treated as confidential. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, and a dot, Private Area or block cannot guarantee personal safety or prevent someone retaining previously shared information.
Manage location and background access in your iOS or Android device settings, adjust Private Areas and blocks in the app, or request account deletion. Disabling required permissions limits map functionality. People Map is intended only for adults 18 and older; entering a birthday is not independent identity or age verification.
For privacy questions, corrections or requests concerning your data, email contact@peoplemapapp.com. Depending on your location, applicable law may give you rights to access, correct, delete or restrict use of personal data. If uninstalling removed the only account session, V1 has no implemented recovery method to link an email sender reliably to that account. A public map identifier, purchase receipt or knowledge of a location is not by itself proof of account ownership. Do not email passwords, session credentials, identity documents or unnecessary location information.
